In Magento, sample data is provided to give you an idea of how your store could look and function with products, categories, and other data already in place. Here are the steps to delete the default sample data in Magento:
- Log in to the Magento admin panel.
- Go to System > Tools > Backup.
- Click on the “Database Backup” button to create a backup of your current store data.
- Go to System > Data Transfer > Import/Export.
- Select “Export” from the drop-down menu.
- Select “Entity Type” as “Products” and select the sample data products you want to delete.
- Select “Export File Format” as “CSV” and click on the “Continue” button.
- Download the exported CSV file.
- Go to System > Data Transfer > Import/Export.
- Select “Import” from the drop-down menu.
- Select “Entity Type” as “Products” and select “Delete Existing”
- Select “Import File Format” as “CSV” and browse and upload the downloaded CSV file.
- Click on the “Check Data” button and then the “Import” button.
- The sample products will be deleted.
Note: You can follow the same steps to delete sample data for other entities such as categories, customers, and orders.
It’s important to keep a backup of your store data before making any changes, in case something goes wrong during the deletion process.
